AVCP RHA Starts New Climate Initiatives Department

The U.S. Department of Commerce and NOAA have recommended over $74.9 million in funding for projects benefiting nearly 100 Alaska Native communities that are on the front lines of climate change. The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) will manage these funds and projects through its Climate Initiatives Program. This program aims to collaborate with communities to develop strategies to adapt to the changing environment.

AVCP Regional Housing Authority (RHA) has been awarded approximately $3.2 million. This funding will be used to establish a new Climate Initiatives department within AVCP RHA, consisting of four positions. The primary goal of this department is to analyze and address the climate-related impacts on housing stock in the Y-K region. The department will also play a crucial role in conducting community climate risk assessments and facilitating networking and knowledge-sharing.

The first position that AVCP RHA is looking to fill is the Director of Climate Initiatives. Interested candidates can view the job description and apply through the AVCP RHA website here: https://www.avcphousing.org/careers/

Once the director is hired, AVCP RHA will begin advertising for the three additional positions in the department. To stay informed about these opportunities, you can visit the website and follow AVCP RHA on Facebook.
