Homeownership Programs

AVCP RHA has the following homeownership programs for individual and families.

Mutual Help Program. This program was offered under the 1937 Housing Act. Program highlights:

  • Family meet program eligible requirements
  • Exceed minimum income requirements and not exceed maximum income requirements
  • Sign the Mutual Help Occupancy Agreement (MHOA)
  • Make monthly house payments
  • Do all of the maintenance and repair to the unit
  • Responsible for all costs associated with maintenance and repair
  • Use the house as the primary place of residence
  • Participate in annual inspections and recertifications

Home Mortgage Program. The HMP is the deed of trust program used for houses constructed under the NAHASDA program. Program highlights:

  • Family meet program eligible requirements
  • Exceed minimum income requirements and not exceed maximum income requirements
  • Sign Deed of Trust and Promissory Note for 25 years
  • The deed is recorded in the state recorder’s office
  • Make monthly house payments
  • Do all of the maintenance and repair to the unit
  • Responsible for all costs associated with maintenance and repair
  • Use the house as the primary place of residence
  • Participate in annual inspections and recertifications

Very Low Income Housing. The VLI Housing is the deed of trust program for houses constructed under the NAHASDA program. Program highlights:

  • Family meet program eligible requirements
  • Income not exceed 20% of the median income limit
  • Sign Deed of Trust and Promissory Note for 10 years
  • The deed is recorded in the state recorder’s office
  • No house payments
  • Do all of the maintenance and repair to the unit
  • Responsible for all costs associated with maintenance and repair
  • Use the house as the primary place of residence
  • Participate in annual inspections and recertifications
