Homeownership Assistance Programs. The Homeownership Assistance Program is designed to assist eligible tribal members of tribes who have named AVCP Regional Housing Authority as their TDHE. The Homeownership Assistance Program (HAP) is a grant that can be used for acquisition or purchase of a new or existing home, down payment assistance to access home financing or in a renovation of an existing home. HAP provides grants of up to $25,000 per eligible applicant with a maximum of total grant funding for the region capped at $200,000 per fiscal year. Families and individuals that apply must meet program eligibility requirements including additional criteria checklist of criminal and credit history. Other requirements include site control, insurance, and useful life agreement of maintaining the unit as an affordable housing unit for minimum of 5 years. The successful applicant is responsible for all planning, purchasing and the work.
