Joe Killeen is the Vice President of Development of the Housing Authority. His primary responsibility is to plan, implement the development and construction of new varied projects including housing in the AVCP region. The work includes coordinating with grant acquisitions; the apprenticeship program; Village Safe Water; Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium; Alaska Village Electric Corporation; Denali Commission; local tribal and municipal councils; Elders Councils and Village Corporations.
Joe has over 35 years experience as designer-builder from concept to reality. He worked as a General Construction Contractor 1982 – 1991 throughout Southern California. Prior to arrival in Alaska in 1991 he owned Design – Build Firm and built residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
Joe began working for AVCP RHA in July 1994 as Administrator of Design and Construction. Over the last 20 years also worked for other Alaskan Housing Authorities first with the Aleutian Housing Authority as the Director of Development & Modernization building homes on the Pribilof Islands and Unalaska. Second with Cook Inlet Housing Authority as Construction Project Manager for 60 home Strawberry Village; Tyonek Terrace, a 40 unit Senior Building and Mountain View Revitalization Project, demolition and construction of 40 single family homes.
Joe was born and raised in New Jersey. He received his degree in Architecture from the University of California – Berkeley. Joe has two sons.
